A suspected explosive device was found at a Canyon Country location where deputies served a search warrant Monday morning. Arson/Explosives investigators are examining the device to determine its makeup.
The search, which took place before 5 a.m. and was executed by the Sheriff’s SWAT team, was made after information gleaned from a traffic stop last Wednesday indicated that there might be such a device at this location.
During that traffic stop, two arrests were made; Michael Cone, 37 and Jami Romano, 41, both of Canyon Country, who went to jail on suspicion of burglary and possession of burglary tools, as well as possession of heroin and methamphetamine. Cone’s bail was set at $30,000 and he was released later that day; Romano is in violation of his parole and is in custody at Men’s Central Jail on a no-bail hold.
According to Sgt. John Bomben, information from those arrests led them to the address in Canyon Country where additional methamphetamine and heroin were found, along with the suspicious device.
Deputies arrested Stacy Wolf, 35, at that location, who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A child at that location was taken into protective custody by Department of Child and Family Services.
