In a multiagency sweep narcotics officers from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Department and other agencies, conducted a marijuana eradication sweep this morning.

The operation took place in the Placerita Canyon area near the Placerita Canyon Nature Center around 9:30 a.m.

As officials armed with machine guns moved in on the suspected grow area, two individuals were seen fleeing the area.  They quickly set up a containment, but the suspects were not located.

“The plants that were found were very, very young,” said Lt. Brenda Cambra, spokeswoman for the Sheriffs department.
