Prayer Breakfast Set For May 3, All Faiths Invited

inspirationalsunbreakSanta Clarita Valley community leaders will join together Thursday, May 3, to share their faith during the 8th Annual SCV Mayors Prayer Breakfast, featuring a keynote speaker who has accomplished the seemingly unthinkable, becoming a world-class triathlete despite the amputation of both of his legs.

“Scott Rigsby’s story is one of inspiration and faith in God, and everyone who hears him speak will be enriched,” said Joe Messina, president/chairman of the Dunamis Group, a local faith-based organization of business leaders who host the Mayors Prayer Breakfast each year.

The breakfast is scheduled 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Tickets cost $25 if purchased in advance or $30 at the door, and reservations can be made by visiting www.scvmpb.com or calling (661) 257-9250. More information on keynote speaker Scott Rigsby is available at www.scottrigsby.com.

Also scheduled to speak will be local elected leaders as well as pastors and ministers from various local religious organizations, each of whom will lead the group in prayer tailored to a different segment of the community, such as youth, protective services, and elected officials.

“We’ve invited all Santa Clarita-area elected and public officials, and we’re looking forward to their fellowship,” Messina said. “We’re expecting not only our local elected officials from the City of Santa Clarita and our local school districts and town councils, but also representatives of county government and nearby cities like Fillmore and Santa Paula.”

The SCV Mayors Prayer Breakfast is scheduled to coincide with the National Day of Prayer, held on the first Thursday of May each year to encourage personal and corporate prayer, defend religious freedoms and emphasize prayer for America’s leaders.

Messina added that the breakfast is a unique opportunity for elected leaders from diverse political backgrounds to find common ground based on their shared faith. “It gives everyone a chance to gather together and share a common thread of good will, regardless of political affiliation.”
