State Route 14 will be subject to nightly closures in order to accommodate the Golden Valley Bridge widening project.

The nightly closures for the Golden Valley Bridge widening project will take begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 through Friday morning Sept. 11, 2015.
Additional nightly closures for the construction will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015 through Thursday morning, Sept. 17.
During the construction, the northbound State Route 14 will be subject to closures from midnight to 6:00 a.m. and the southbound State Route 14 will be subject to closures from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. from Sept. 8, 2015 to Sept. 11, 2015 and Sept. 15, 2015 to Sept. 17, 2015. Both directions of the State Route 14 will never be closed at the same time.
State Route 14 traffic will be detoured utilizing respective State Route 14 off-ramps and on-ramps in each direction. Motorists who travel during the early hours through this area are advised to plan on slightly heavier traffic.

The Golden Valley Road Bridge widening project will add an additional two lanes of travel, one in each direction, for a total of four through lanes on the bridge, as well as a dedicated left turn lane to access the southbound State Route 14 and two left turn lanes to access the northbound State Route 14.
This project will also add a pedestrian walkway on the north side of the bridge and a bike path on the south side of the bridge.

This improvement will not help much as to many homes are being built and that’s adding thousand of more cars to Golden Valley/Newhall Rd. Sorry, it’s too late.
