Santa Clarita, CA – The City of Santa Clarita and the SCV Family of Water Suppliers will host the 2013 Earth Arbor Day event on Saturday, April 13 at Central Park.

“This is a zero waste event it is going to feature a lot of family friendly activities, there will be hands on demonstration zones,” said City Spokesman Evan Thomason. “Folks can come down and get a free tree, this event usually draws a big crowd and everybody has a great time.”
The popular, fun and free community event will feature a host of family-friendly activities scheduled in seven interactive zones designed to show attendees how to make the leap to cleaner, greener practices.
The City’s Earth Arbor Day event will feature food, displays from more than 80 eco-minded vendors, and live music from nearly a dozen local singer/songwriters in the genres of folk, alternative, pop, indie, reggae, swing, rockabilly and more.
Attendees are encouraged to get into the spirit and arrive at Newhall Park car-free, with Bike Valets provided at the event to safely stow cycles.
Guests at the event can browse displays and participate in activities scheduled in seven interactive environmentally related zones, including a Community Zone featuring informative workshops and Tree Zone distributing free trees, mulch and ladybugs to help control pests and reduce the need for pesticides.
Kids will get a kick out of the Children’s Zone, presented by Whole Foods Market, offering hands-on activities, displays, games, and entertainment, including a rock climbing wall, bungee jumping cables and giant inflatable side.
In addition to providing a day filled with activities and events, the City will celebrate Arbor Day by handing out free trees.
