Princess Foundation Helps Single Mothers Outreach Cruise To Happy Holidays

khts_inthecommunityThe Princess Cruises Community Foundation donated $15,000 to Single Mothers Outreach of Santa Clarita (SMO) to help single parent families during the holiday season. Employees of Princess Cruises in Valencia purchased gifts for the selected families and gathered for a gift-wrapping party. The presents were then given to 100 local families during a holiday celebration.

Alan Buckelew, President and CEO of Princess Cruises and President of the Foundation said they were happy to contribute to the work of the Single Mothers organization and to help families in Santa Clarita. The Princess Cruises Community Foundation is committed to supporting charitable causes around the world and provides grants to organizations dedicated to children, education and more.

DaAnne Smith, Executive Director of Single Mothers Outreach said she was overwhelmed with the generous donation and added, “Our parents are working hard to move forward and better their lives and the lives of their children. This gift provides encouragement and hope.”

Single Mothers Outreach is committed to growing strong families by providing educational opportunities, access to resources, jobs, crisis counseling and more. Each year the SMO organization offers Financial Peace University Classes to its parents, a 13-week financial literacy course developed by nationally syndicated Radio show host Dave Ramsey. In addition, parents can participate in computer education classes, and free clothing through Shop the Closet, an in house clothing store managed by the SMO organization.

Single Mothers Outreach recently launched its Building Lives Campaign with a goal to raise $75,000 by December 31, 2011. To date, the campaign has raised approximately $34,000. To make a contribution or to learn more about Single Mothers Outreach of Santa Clarita, please visit,
