A car burglar walked into the arms of the law Thursday morning after he and two accomplices allegedly broke into vehicles in the 18200 block of Sandy Drive.
After a report of two or three suspects breaking into cars in the area, deputies were able to capture Christopher Morejon, 22, of Canyon Country.Deputies searching Morejon found him to be in possession of a paycheck in another person’s name and some rare silver coins, some from the 1700s, that may have been taken in another vehicle or residential burglary. He also had an iPod and mail from one of the victimized vehicles.
Morejon was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station on suspicion of felony vehicular burglary, vandalism and possession of stolen property. He is being held without bail. Booking records from the Sheriff’s department indicate that Morejon has been on probation since June 1 from an earlier offense, with a court date in September. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on this case on July 6.
Anyone with specific information about a recent theft of these types of coins who can positively identify them and provide supporting documentation to the Sheriff’s Department is asked to contact Detective Mike Marino of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Burglary and Fraud team at (661) 799-5137.
