Pros Try Their Hand At Trick Shots

Shooting at Magic Mountain kicks off Champions Classic.

ImageThis afternoon, two professional golfers on the Champions Tour showed up at Magic Mountain to try their hand at the trick shots.

They are Andy Bean and Mark McCumber.

The first involved hitting a flag tied to the top of a towering water ride at Hurricane Harbor.

Of course, aside from cracking jokes at each other, the two longtime friends also had to do it under the scrutiny of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Sylvester.

The first few shots looked perfect, but the flag proved to be illusive. Most of the time they would get just close enough to bounce the ball off the railing and fall to the ground.

But they didn’t quit.

ImageThey walked inside the gates of Magic Mountain where a platform was set up with waiting golf balls. Their target? The loop of one of the park’s classic coasters, Revolution.

The only problem was that the loop could barely be seen from the platform. In order to make the shot, the pros had to blindly hit it, and cut it hard to the right.

Andy Bean tried a few shots and surprisingly got close. Mark McCumber, however, made it look easy, hitting the loop twice, once on his first shot.

It was a friendly atmosphere at the park, with both the pros laughing and sharing stories with the press about their long history together.

“Every town we come to has been great,” they said, echoing each other.

They agreed that the Valencia Country Club course is incredibly challenging, and they confirmed that in order to win, you have to hit every shot.

The AT&T Champions Classic, which is the main event, begins on Friday, and will end on Sunday.
