There is an urgent need for type “O” and “A” blood. All blood types are accepted.
In order to donate blood, donors should present a valid photo ID, weigh at least 110 lbs, and be at least 17 years old (16 year olds accepted with hospital parental consent).
“It takes three days to process the blood, so if an emergency happens like a car accident, people can’t donate on the spot and we use the blood we retrieve from donor mobiles like the one coming to Bowman High School on October 17 and other sources that have already been processed,” Sandy Hibarger, Providence blood donor recruiter.
“People don’t really realize the need to donate blood until an emergency happens to them or someone close to them. It really saves lives. Providence needs 2000 pints of blood per month to have an adequate safe supply,” said Hibarger.
It is recommended donors have a nutritious meal and plenty of fluids before donating blood.
Donors are expected to receive a complimentary t-shirt upon donation.

Bowman High School is located at 21508 Centre Pointe Pkway, Santa Clarita CA, 91530.
