On Friday, November 12, the City of Santa Clarita is providing community members the opportunity to view the recently-purchased area of Elsmere Canyon.
In October, the City finalized its purchase of 842 acres of the greenbelt space and now officials want to show it off.

During the 1990s, Elsmere Canyon was destined to become a 190-ton landfill. With the hard work of the City, federal legislators, the Walt Disney Company and dedicated residents, it will remain a vibrant wildlife corridor and protected open space for the City.
Everyone is asked to meet beforehand at 11 a.m. before departing by shuttle to the event site in Elsmere Canyon.
To arrive at the meeting area, drive down Newhall Avenue toward State Route 14, turn right on Sierra Highway and go a half mile east down the road. There will be balloons on the left by the designated parking area.
The shuttle will depart at 11:30 a.m.
The dedication ceremony will be hosted by Mayor Laurene Weste, Council members Marsha McLean, Laurie Ender, Bob Kellar and Frank Ferry, and Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
RSVP by calling (661) 255-4321.
