Public Invited To Todd Longshore Park Ribbon-Cutting

Canyon Country’s newest park is tribute to late commissioner.

What used to be a barren patch of hillside is now a beautiful 32-acre park with play equipment, picnic tables, a grass amphitheater and spectacular scenic overlook.

Todd Longshore Park, named after one of Santa Clarita’s first parks commissioners who died in April 2006, will be dedicated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. The public is invited to the ceremonies.

The $4.5 million park, located at Whites Canyon and Canyon Crest Roads in Canyon Country, includes two children’s play areas with a handicap accessible play area for children ages 5-12; shaded picnic areas with tables, a walking path, amphitheater, open turf for passive play and a spectacular scenic overlook with seating areas, hiking trails and trees.

Rick Gould, the city’s Parks Recreation and Community Services director said that Longshore Park provides the best view of any park in the city. “It’s a must-see for families,” he added.
