Studies have shown child safety seats can reduce fatal injury by 72 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers, ages 1-4.

The CHP, and the Mattel Toy Store, will be offering a free Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Seat Check-up Event on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The event will be located at the Mattel Toy Store at 2780 South Reservoir St. in Pomona.

The goal of this event is to educate parents on the proper installation and use of child passenger seats. Inspections will be done by appointment only.

The CHP will have trained certified CPS technicians/officers inspecting child seats and offering traffic safety information.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

To set up an appointment, participants must contact the CHP Southern Division office at (818) 240-8200.
