The small child was departing the bus with a parent around 7:08 p.m., just before the intersection of the northbound lanes of Orchard Village Road, near Wiley Canyon Road.

The girl ran across the street after departing the bus, according to witnesses, crossing the northbound lanes of Orchard Village before she was struck by a car while crossing the southbound lanes.

She was a student of the Newhall School District, according to officials, who could not verify any additional information about the identity of the girl because her identity had not been officially released.

However, district officials said as soon as they received notification, they mobilized resources to assist children and any staff who might be dealing with grief.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the girl stopped at the scene and was cooperative, according to officials. Neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be factors in the collision based on the deputies on-scene preliminary investigation. Officials reported the driver was not arrested.

A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputy came upon the scene right after the collision and, along with a nurse who also happened to be near the scene of the crash, administered life-saving measures until the girl was transported by medical personnel to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

Officials reported she was pronounced dead at the hospital about a half-hour later.

  10. Though I do not know the circumstances of this heart breaking story, I am heart broken for the family and her friends, my heart aches for all the life experiences and dreams this young beautiful girl will never fulfill. Losing a child hurts more then anything else in the world, there is nothing more painful, more heartbreaking, more life changing then any other pain known to man, to her parents. My heart knows your pain and I am so intimately sorry for your loss. May you find peace with your family and friends as you go through this painful process. Be sure my heart aches for you, today and everyday. To others that jump to conclude that all drivers are remorseful, sadly we have learned the hard way that some people just do not care and we must all stop assuming that drivers feel remorse, surely most do but sadly many simply could care less and I pray that this is not the case for this family. It is hard enough to lose your baby and it makes it even more painful when a driver has zero remorse. To the parents and family of this young and beautiful girl my thoughts, feelings and heart is with you today and always. If ever you need to reach out to our family please do so. For now I wish you peace, even if it comes for a second or a moment at a time. Do not allow anyone to tell you how to grieve, how long to grieve, this time is all about you, all about your families grief no matter how long it takes. Do not fear reaching out to those that have gone through such a sudden loss of a child. Again, please feel free to reach out to our family. Our hearts are with you always, Teresa Savaikie, Wyatt Savaikie’s mom, always and forever

  11. May God Bless this Angel and her Family at this time and always .

  14. Mr. & Mrs. Galvan
Its not enough to say how sorry I am for your loss of you beautiful child Ana. Words don’t
seem to say what pain I feel in my heart for everyone at the scene. Mrs. Savaikia knows the pain from losing her son in a traffic accident last year. I know the pain because I lost a son many years ago, but have never missed a day of not thinking about him. It takes a parent who has gone through this loss to know how a family may feel when it happens to them. We all bond together in unity and pray that you can find strength to move forward though this dark time that you are facing now. There is no limit on grief, only you will be able to move at your pace. You are always welcome to talk to someone who has gone to special children grief groups that meet to let you talk out your feelings with others like yourself.
May God and is son comfort you and help you not blame yourself and find piece.

    Mr & Mrs. Mahle, Newhall,Ca.
