Around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, a person was hit by a train and was pronounced dead on scene, according to a Metrolink spokesperson.

The victim was described to be a woman, according to Los Angeles County Fire officials.

The woman was possibly homeless, according to a witness on the scene.

Preliminary investigation at the scene indicates it was accidental. A female adult reportedly was crossing the tracks, dropped an item, and went to retrieve the item when she was struck by the train, according to Sheriff’s officials.

All trains are canceled until the tracks are reopened, according to Metrolink officials.

Metrolink will have buses stop at all stops that the train would make between Lancaster and Los Angeles Union Station, however delays are expected.

It is unclear how long the tracks will be closed.

  1. This is the second time in a few months someone was killed on these train tracks. What is going on here??

  2. I was on the train when this happened. My thoughts and prayers go out to the woman’s loved ones. I have to say that I was very impressed by how Metrolink and the SCV Sheriffs handled the situation as far as the passengers were concerned. They were very informative and helpful to the riders and made sure everyone was OK. They helped us onto another train fairly quickly. I felt bad for the Metrolink employee working on our train as you could tell he was quite shaken up. Very sad situation.

  3. Does the editorial employees not check the verbiage of its reporters? Or is it okay to report a sad story with so many grammatical mistakes? I don’t know why I waste my time reading this stuff.

  4. Hitting a pedestrian on the tracks is not a train crash!

Please be careful not to use sensational headlines..

  5. Lots of homless drunks and mental unstable in the area

  6. Susan Riley was my friend R.I.P. Yes, she was homeless. She was a mental illness. It’s very sad. She was homeless for about 18 months. Her mother lives in Newhall but because of her mental sickness, she did want to help her. Her husband abandoned her. My prayer to Susan Riley ill miss her

Hello all…..we want to have a memorial service for Susan at the Homeless Shelter that she frequented quite often. If anyone has contact information for a family member, please let us know. R.I.P. Susan R.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
