The City of Santa Clarita invites the community to participate in a Punt, Pass and Kick Competition on Saturday, September 25 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Central Park. The competition is open to all local youth, aged 6 to 15 and no registration is required to attend.
The ‘Punt, Pass and Kick’ competition will include boys and girls divisions broken down by age: 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11, 12 to 13 and 14 to 15. Each participant will be able to perform 1 punt, 1 pass and 1 kick. Scores will be tallied based on distance and accuracy and winners will be notified following the competition.
The winner of each boy’s and girl’s age division of the ‘Punt, Pass and Kick’ Competition will qualify to represent the City of Santa Clarita’s Youth Sports Program at the ‘Punt, Pass and Kick’ Sectional Competition in October.
“The competition at Central Park provides Santa Clarita’s youth with the opportunity to showcase their skills in a local competition and the chance to advance on to the National Finals at an NFL Playoff game,” said Mayor Laurene Weste.
Established in 1961, the ‘Punt, Pass and Kick Competition’ is one of the NFL’s longest-standing youth football traditions. The winners of the Sectional Competition will qualify to move on to the Team Championships at a to-be-determined San Diego Chargers game in November and December.
The top four scorers among the Team Championships first-place finalists in each age division will advance to the National Finals, held at an NFL Playoff game in January. Free travel to the competition will be provided for players and two parents or guardians.
Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road. The ‘Punt, Pass and Kick’ Competition will be held at the park’s passive field by the basketball courts.
