Pysanky Classes Offered At Golden Oak Adult School

pysankythreePsyanky are Ukrainian Easter eggs artistically colored with the wax and dye method. By ancient tradition mothers customarily passed this art to daughters in the weeks prior to Easter. In Santa Clarita you can learn to this almost-lost art at Golden Oak Adult School.

Golden Oak Adult School will offer a series of four Ukrainian Easter egg-dying classes on Saturdays March 10, 17, 24, 31 from 12 noon – 3 p.m. The cost is $40, plus a nominal lab fee of $10.00 per person (to cover the cost of dyes and students will receive a stylus to take home).

Advance sign-ups are a must to keep class from canceling. Enroll no later than Wednesday March 7.  Class will be held at 23201 Dalbey Drive, Valencia, CA 91355 in Golden Oak Classroom #3.  You may enroll on-line (www.goldenoakadultschool.com), by mail or in-person.  Golden Oak Office telephone is 661-253-0583.

Local artist Olga Kaczmar will be the instructor. In four sessions, the student will become skilled in materials use, traditional and modern patterns, wax resist and egg dying process and will have beautiful, ornate eggs in time for Easter.
