A 4,864-acre brushfire burning since Sunday, near Gorman, was declared 100 percent contained as of 8 a.m. this morning. The Quail Fire was first reported just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Over the course of the fire, over 1,000 fire personnel battled the blaze in the air and on the ground. Cool weather conditions in the area east of the I-5 assisted firefighters in getting the upper hand on the blaze. The fire had forced closure of northbound lanes of the Golden State freeway on the Grapevine. It left 4,000 Edison customers without electricity for a time on Sunday. Fire personnel will remain in the area for the next couple of days watching for hot spots.
