Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, co-stars in Liberace’s autobiographical movie introduced Sir Elton John.

Elton was draped in a bright blue, glittery suit with the name of his autobiographical album from 1975, “Captain Fantastic “ on the back.  Elton joked about how he “didn’t know” about Liberace’s “hiddenlife”.  Elton came out in 1977 in a Rolling Stone interview, long before Liberace’s death.  This helped bring a wider acceptance of homosexuality to the entertainment industry.

The Elton John band was flanked by a choral ensemble from the USC Thornton School of Music. Appearing slightly nervous in front of his contemporaries and reading from a teleprompter, Elton dedicated his new single “Home Again” to his Las Vegas predecessor, as he seems to understand “Lee’s” love of being home.

Sir Elton John returns to his Las Vegas Caesar’s Palace showroom for 11 performances over the next two weeks with “The Million Dollar Piano.” Elton will perform with his band most of his 1970s hits including “Tiny Dancer,” “Rocket Man” and “Crocodile Rock.”
