Shiitake Mushrooms Recalled For Chemical Contamination

Link (Huntington Beach) Corporation of Cerritos is recalling Shiitake-Ya brand Gourmet Shiitake Slices with a “Sell by date” of 04/16/2013 because the mushrooms may be contaminated with the chemicals carbendazim, fluoranthene, and pyrene.  Residues of these chemicals are not approved on dried mushrooms.

The Gourmet Shiitake Slices were sold exclusively to Costco Wholesale locations in California, Oregon, and Washington.  The recalled mushrooms are packaged in 6 oz plastic jars with a SELL BY date of 04/16/2013 affixed to the bottom portion of the rear label.

The recall was initiated after a product sample was tested by the United States Food and Drug Administration and found to be contaminated with carbendazim, fluoranthene, and pyrene.  L.A. Link (Huntington Beach) Corporation is taking this action to assure the safety of our consumers.

Consumers who have purchased Shiitake-Ya brand Gourmet Shiitake Slices are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.  Consumers with questions may email L.A.
