Breakfast slated for tomorrow
[view:node_ad=5]The Hometown Heroes Recognition Breakfast celebrates the values and principles of the American Red Cross by recognizing people in the Santa Clarita Valley, who have taken action in a time of crisis to help others, and who consistently show an extraordinary gift for human compassion. This special recognition breakfast will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 7:00 a.m., at the Valencia Hyatt, 24500 Town Center DriveValencia, CA 91355.
Television newscaster and Santa Clarita resident, Rick Chambers will be the Master of Ceremonies and Edmond Lelo, chairman of the board of the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles and Head of the Wells Fargo Commercial Bank Group in the Greater Los Angeles region will be the guest speaker.
Hero honors are being awarded in ten different categories, including First Responder, Youth, Educator, Medical, Workplace, Military, Youth Sports Mentor, Senior, Adult and Animal Hero. Proceeds from the event will benefit Red Cross emergency response and educational services in Santa Clarita.
The Santa Clarita district of the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles is dedicated to helping make families and communities safer. A volunteer-led humanitarian service organization, the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles responds to an average of 10 disasters a week in 36 cities, including Los Angeles. The Red Cross provides relief for victims of house and apartment fires, earthquakes, floods, hazardous material spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural or man-made disasters – 24 hours a day. Last year the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles trained nearly 90,000 people in vital life-saving skills while providing direct health services to more than 100,000 people. The American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles is a United Way partner in Bridging the Gap in Los Angeles.
