Red Flag Warning Returns To SCV

Despite wintry cold nights, winds and dry fuel make for perfect fire weather.

The National Weather Service has declared that a Red Flag
Warning is in effect until 4 p.m.
Wednesday for much of Los Angeles
and Ventura Counties,
due to gusty Northeast winds and low humidity.

Winds are expected to increase late in the morning and peak
in the afternoon. Gusts of more than 60 mph are expected in the mountains and
50 mph in the valleys with significantly low humidity, which will continue
overnight.

While the winds are expected to diminish on Wednesday, warm
and dry conditions are expected to continue. Fuels have only shown minor
recovery from recent rains and are still critically dry in most parts of the
affected areas.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather
conditions may exist; a combination of strong winds, low relatives humidity and
critical fuels create explosive fire growth potential.
