Redmond O’Neal, son of actors Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, plead no contest to felony possession of an illegal substance in a jail facility and admitted to the allegations that he committed this offense while out on bail for another case.
He was arrested April 5 on the grounds of Pitchess Detention Center when deputies searching cars in the parking lot for contraband found drugs in his possession. He was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Station and, because he was on probation for a prior offense, was confined to Pitchess while his trial motions went through the system.
According to District Attorney spokeswoman Shiara Davila-Morales, the 24-year old appeared in Dept. 1 of Santa Clarita Superior Court and appeared before Judge Graciela Friexes, who immediately sentenced him to one year in a residential drug treatment facility and three years formal probation. If O’Neal violates his probation, he will have to spend 6 years in state prison.
O’Neal had been undergoing drug rehabilitation while in custody in Castaic.
