Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan recently gave public notice that effective Jan. 1, 2012, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk will implement a $2.00 fee increase for certified copies of birth and death records.
Fees for certified copies of birth records will increase from $19.00 to $21.00 and $12.00 to $14.00 for death records.

Assembly Bill 1053, signed into law by Governor Brown, amended California Health and Safety Code Section 103625 (a) and (b) to authorize a $6.00 fee increase to the base fee for certified copies. The fee increase will be spread out over a three-year period, with a $2.00 increase on Jan. 1, 2012, a second $2.00 increase on Jan. 1, 2013 and a third $2.00 increase on Jan. 1, 2014.
Certified copies of birth and death certificates may be obtained from any Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Office weekdays (excluding holidays) as follows at all six offices, including the two closts to the Santa Clarita Valley:
