Relay For Life Gets Enthusiastic Kick Off

Rally motivates teams, gets others interested.

On June 2nd, the Relay For Life will explode on to the scene here in Santa Clarita, and many locals will head to the track to circle around for a cure.

The American Cancer Society is the beneficiary of the event, which is a favorite here in town.

Last night, a rally held at the Spectrum Club in Valencia motivated teams and participants to get their people ready for the all night walk that serves many purposes.

According to their website, Relay For Life is “much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. During this event, we honor survivors during the opening ceremony with the Survivors Lap and we remember those we lost to cancer during the evening Luminaria Ceremony. We also celebrate life, friendship, and a chance to work together toward a cancer-free future.”

So while sponsorships and donations raise much needed money to help battle cancer, Relay For Life also offers a personal bit of good for its participants.

Teams are being formed now for the June 2nd event, but if you would rather be a silent contributor, you can check out their online donation center on their website by clicking here.

Relay For Life will be held at Central Park in Saugus.
