Remains Positively Identified As Orange County Woman

Ekelund_copyThe Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has officially identified the remains found last week on the grounds of LARC Ranch as those of Lynsie Ekelund, an Orange County college student who disappeared in February 2001 after a night out with friends.

She was buried there after she was killed in a Whittier apartment by suspect Chris McAmis almost 10 years ago.

McAmis, who was a construction worker with his father at the time, confessed to Ekelund’s murder last month, pointing detectives to the Bouquet Canyon site where he buried her.

McAmis is being held without bail at Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles. He is due to appear in court on November 30.
