At McKeon’s urging, Forest Service agrees to restart the public comment period, hold scoping meeting regarding proposed Soledad Canyon mining application…
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) today issued the following statement in response to the Angeles National Forest Service announcement to “re-do” the public comment period for Pacific Industrial Minerals on operating plan in Soledad Canyon:
“I am pleased the Forest Service has decided to re-start the clock on the public comment period for Pacific Industrial Mineral’s proposed operating plan for Soledad Canyon.
“The Forest Service will also be honoring my request for a public scoping meeting. This is an important first step to ensure all interested parties have access to the proper information.
“Although many questions remain about the project, I am thankful Santa Clarita Valley residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposed mining operations plan and be able to offer comment on the proposal.
“This is how ‘government for the people and by the people’ is supposed to work.”
