Rescued Animals Available For Adoption in Saugus on Saturday

Dogs, puppies and cats looking for new owners after abusivestart.

 

More than 50 dogs and 30 cats found will be up for adoption from10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Canine Country Club in BouquetCanyon. The adoption event is being coordinated by the Gentle Barn,which helped rescue the dogs and cats kept in abusive and unhealthyconditions on a compound in the desert near Lancaster.

Gentle Barn founder Ellie Laks said that a great variety ofdogs, puppies and cats are available.

 

“We have all sorts of breeds of dogs and puppies, and catsof every size, color and description,” Laks said.“We’re surprised that, considering where these dogswere taken from, they are friendly and playful. Animals are soforgiving. Most of them are leash trained and every one is spayedor neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

 

Many of the dogs have been staying in foster homes awaitingpermanent placement and a number of special breed rescues thatassisted in the rescue will bring additional dogs for adoption. 

 

Laks said that prospective owners will need to complete anapplication, meet with Gentle Barn staff to make sure it’s agood match and agree to a home check with the animal is deliveredby Gentle Barn staff. The group is asking for $100 donation per dogand $50 per cat.
