Residents Should Be Aware Of Potentially Dangerous Trees

stormEarly Thursday morning a large oak tree fell onto Bouquet Canyon Road, prompting a closure between Vasquez Canyon and Spunky Canyon Roads.

Due to the high winds accompanying the recent storms hitting our valley, large trees could potentially fall down causing severe damage to property.

Roy Boak of Roy Boak Tree Service advised that once the ground becomes too saturated, trees with shallow roots could come down.

Boak also advises that routine pruning is the best way to keep trees safe in case severe weather strikes. If residents have not had an opportunity to have their trees pruned there are signs they can look out for during a storm, including large gaps forming towards the canopy of the tree and larger branches beginning to bow down. Trees should be pruned as soon as possible to prevent costly damage.

Residents should also check their homeowners insurance to find out what exactly is covered in case of storm damage.
