McKeon takes a moment to share experiences, responsibilities with eighth graders.
Eighth grade students from Rio Norte Junior High visited the East coast during spring break. Students explored New York, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Mt. Vernon and Washington, D.C., with Rio Norte history teacher Ron Ippolito. Congress was in session when the student group visited the Capitol.
Congressman Buck McKeon took time from his duties to speak with the students and educate them on the responsibilities of Congress and how they could be an involved citizen on a local and national level.
Several students commented on their experience, including Derek Faraldo, who said that being a page or intern was something he planned to do.
Tim Cervenka said, "it gives one hope that even a person from a small town can connect with big government and be a part of it."
Risa Rubin, Clara Park, and Maddie Homa all said their favorite part of the trip was the capitol and that it was “really cool” to meet Congressman McKeon.
