Rivas came to the Hart District in June 2003 as modernization project manager and worked on the modernization projects at Arroyo Seco Junior High and Canyon and Saugus high schools, along with installation of portable classrooms at Bowman High School.

His most recent projects have included wrapping up the Canyon High School modernization project and preparing plans for modernization projects at Placerita and Sierra Vista junior high schools and Hart High for submission to the Division of State Architects.

Asked for his most notable accomplishments as interim director, he expressed pride in his efforts to rein in modernization cost overruns and adopt realistic project budgets that can be adhered to.

Before coming to the Hart District, Rivas was a construction administrator with Flewelling & Moody Architects in Lancaster, California. He brought with him experience in project cost estimation, cost reduction and energy savings projects, maintenance planning of existing facilities and a reputation for bringing projects in on time and within budget.

“I am very pleased that the district will be able to take advantage of the skills and expertise Mr. Rivas brings to our organization,” said Rob Gapper, chief operations officer for the Hart District.
