Suspect gets away with undisclosed amount of cash from membership club.
[view:node_ad=5]A thief made quite the dramatic exit Sunday night after robbing the Sam’s Club membership store on Carl Boyer Drive.
Sgt. Ron Price of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station said that a single suspect, described as a white male, 6’4” in height and weighing 200 pounds entered the store late Sunday afternoon and hid in the store until after closing.
Price said that at approximately 7:30 p.m., the suspect came out of hiding and brandished a semiautomatic handgun at an employee, who he took into the safe room and forced the employee to open the safe.
The suspect then emptied the safe, putting an undisclosed amount into a bag he brought with him and tried to run through the exit doors, which were locked. He then ran to a nearby forklift and drove the vehicle through the glass doors, jumping off and running towards L.A. Fitness, which is just south of the store.
Despite deputies searching the area, they were unable to find the suspect, who remains at large. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on the case is asked to call the sheriff’s station at 255-1121.
