Convicted killer Antonio Rodriguez was given the death sentence by a Superior Court judge Thursday for sexually assaulting and beating to death his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter.

Rodriguez, 29, was convicted in July of several charges, including murder, torture and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

Desarie Saravia and her 6-year old brother were tortured by Rodriguez before he molested and beat young Desarie to death on November 12, 2004 in the restroom at Hasley Canyon Park in Castaic. He was watching the children while their mother, Debby Saravia, was cleaning homes in the area.

Debby Saravia, 32, is awaiting trial on her daughter’s death, charged with murder, two counts of child abuse and two counts of corporal abuse of a child. If convicted, she faces life in prison.
