Council Member Boydston

The first round of questioning regarding the Henry Mayo Master Plan for Campus Expansion finished up Tuesday night with Councilmember TimBen Boydston finishing his long list of concerns.

The expansion plan has come under fire as it struggles to pass through the City approval process, with critics saying the 1.2 million square foot project is too big for its 30 acre location.

Henry Mayo has said that the growth is necessary to meet growing patient demand in Santa Clarita.

[view:node_ad=5]At the previous Council meeting, Boydston began his questioning and was joined by the rest of the Council in doing so. In addition, council members said that they would ask more questions of city staff in private and direct them to return with a comprehensive set of answers at the August 28th meeting. Boydston, however, announced that he wanted to ask every one of his questions in the public arena. Tuesday night was a continuance of his list of questions.

So over the course of the next month and a half, the City’s staff will be gathering answers, setting up a meeting between the hospital and Henry Mayo, and revising the plan’s Environmental Impact Report, which has revealed inconsistencies.

Due to the Council’s summer break, the issue will not return until August 28th.
