Senator Sharon Runner issued the following statement regarding Governor Brown’s visit to Santa Clarita Valley:
“While I respect the Governor and the elected officials, this does nothing to help create jobs and reduce the budget.
“Our unemployment rate is 12 percent. That’s 2.2 million people without jobs! We need to cut out the rhetoric and work on real solutions to get Californians back to work.

“Job creation must be our highest priority because this—and not higher taxes—will propel us forward and out of our budget crisis
“Even with the Governor’s proposed cuts, the state budget will balloon to over $111 billion in three years. That’s a 31 percent increase!
“Eight weeks ago, the constituents in Santa Clarita and the rest of my district, spoke loud and clear, NO NEW TAXES when they elected me knowing that I did not intend to put taxes on the ballot.
“And that’s a promise I will keep.”
