Runner, Smyth Seek Business Input At Town Hall

georgerunnerBusiness owners concerned with government regulation will have an opportunity to express their opinions directly to Senator George Runner and Assemblyman Cameron Smyth on Friday morning at Santa Clarita City Hall.

The local legislators are hosting a town hall meeting on government over-regulation and are interested in hearing first-hand from business owners and workers just how legislation affects them.

Runner cited a university study released in late 2009 that found government over-regulation costs California businesses nearly $500 billion annually.

“All of these studies quantify a fact that most of us already know: California is losing jobs,” he said.

“The most important action the Legislature and the Governor can take right now is to create jobs and usher in a friendlier business climate,” Smyth said. “Hearing directly from those who are impacted by the burdensome load of state and local regulation is a necessary step to making that happen.”

The two legislators plan to hold the same type of hearing on Friday, Jan. 22 at the City of Thousand Oaks’ board room, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.
