City set to construct extension of multi-use trail.
The City of Santa Clarita is set to start construction on the Sand Canyon Trail Phase II, to begin during the week of July 16, 2007. This multi-use trail, an extension of the Sand Canyon Trail phase one, will be located on the west side of Sand Canyon Road, from Road Runner Road, south to Live Oak Springs Canyon Road.
“Thanks to an innovative approach, the City was able to create a variable width pathway through the area, allowing for construction of the trail, without the need for additional right-of-way acquisition. The necessary improvements will be completed by the trail construction contractor and the Sand Canyon overlay project contractor,” explained Wayne Weber, Parks Superintendent for the City of Santa Clarita.
Currently, the City of Santa Clarita has development more than 30 miles of off-street, class one trails throughout the City. The City’s innovative trail system provide a safe venue for walkers, joggers, bicyclists and in some cases, equestrians to travel throughout the community.
The Sand Canyon phase II trail project is expected to be completed by December, 2007.
