The public hearing attracted many who protested the sewer rate increase. Nearly 25 concerned members of our community attended the Tea Party protest that preceded the meeting, holding up signs saying “Stop sanitation fee hike”.
Sanitation Board member, LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich proposed that it was too early to make a decision on this issue.

This decision was a success for many who were concerned for the local businesses who were set to endure overwhelming fee increases if the proposal was approved.
Allen Cameron, a founder of the group Santa Clarita Organization for Planning the Environment said, “I think they were correct in not moving to adopt this. We should fight this, and if we do it aggressively, I think we will win.”
