Santa Clarita Author Coins Destruction Of Americanism

In_God_We_TrustSanta Clarita author Scott Voltz believes there are groups out there who want to tear down Americanism.

“You’ll see in different battles across the country, particularly in universities and high schools these days, a lot of the popular culture and these professors are trying to dismantle the American Trinity,” said Voltz.

“The American Trinity, how do Americans know if their ideas are un-American?” is the title of Voltz’ book.

“It’s about the three phrases on the American coins: In God We Trust, Liberty and E. Pluribus Unum,” Voltz said.

He admits borrowing the term ‘American Trinity’ from conservative radio talk show host Dennis Prager.

The book covers the history of how the phrases got on our coins, why they’re important, what they mean and some examples of how he perceives they are not being honored today.

Voltz recognizes that a lot of people don’t understand the phrase because it’s Latin.

“It means from many into one,” Voltz said.

For him that translates to: we stand as one country, united.

“When we have signs and voting registrations and ballots in more than one language that’s not unifying a country,” Voltz said.

To Voltz that’s not one American value, not one culture.

“I think we’re more unified when we don’t have multiculturalism. Which is one of the things that’s taught in our high schools and universities, how important multiculturalism is,” said Voltz.

He does believe we have to respect everyone’s culture and where they come from, however:

“When we leave the privacy of our own homes we’re Americans first, Voltz said.

“There’s a lot of people who try to take God out of our society, removing God from the Pledge of Allegiance. When the truth of the matter is if you go to Washington D.C. you’ll see God all over the monuments that are in Washington, D.C. It’s part of our life,” Voltz said

Voltz says his beliefs still allow room for atheists in the country.

“Of course there is, but the atheists must respect the fact that the country was founded on Judeo-Christian principals,” Voltz said.

LIBERTY

Voltz looks at Liberty as another word for freedom and it’s in danger.

“We’re not even allowed to decide which light bulbs we can use in our house any more. We don’t have that freedom. We have to use these mercury light bulbs,” Voltz said.

And he believes term limits decide for us who can or can’t run for office.

“That’s an abridgement of our freedoms. That’s what makes America different. The more Liberty the more freedom we have, the more we honor the American Trinity,” said Voltz.

trinity_largerVoltz would like to have his slim book; he admits it’s more like a pamphlet, in schools.

“I suppose it has more of a conservative bent to it, so it probably would be more of traditional private school, but I would love to see it in the public schools,” Voltz said.

He believes high school kids would enjoy debating the view he espouses.

Voltz will be signing copies of his book, The American Trinity, at The Coffee House, 23414 Lyons Avenue in Newhall, Saturday, September 24 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Voltz has been a member of Temple Beth Ami and was named the Men’s Club Man of the Year in 2007.

He has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1988, is the father of three children and a husband to Shawn.

Voltz owns Voltz Commercial Realty Advisors.
