“We are fortunate to have experienced players from Europe, Mexico and elite U.S. collegiate teams, giving us the opportunity to compete at the highest level against exceptional teams from Canada , Colorado , Seattle and the Los Angeles area,” Sandoval said.

The Blue Heat’s roster includes such talent as  Edite Fernandes (Portugese National Team; Athletico Madrid), Julie Melrose (Rangers FC – Scotland), Shannon Brooks (U20 Guatemalan National Team; North Dakota State University), Anjuli Ladron de Guevara (Mexican National Team; University of Monterrey) and Marky Boyce (Charleston Southern University; two-time Big South Player of the Year).

Players from CSU Northridge, CSU Los Angeles, Fresno State, William Carey University, St. Leo University, University of Michigan, University of Rhode Island and College of the Canyons round out the team.

With the addition of two teams to the Western Conference this season, the SC Blue Heat will now play seven home games in the Santa Clarita Valley with Sunday’s inaugural game to be played at Valencia High School at 7 p.m. on May 22. Adult admission is $10, $5 for youth under 12.

In addition, the SC Blue Heat FC has partnered with the SCV Food Pantry and for the first game, four boxes of macaroni and cheese may be contributed in lieu of the price of admission.
