For the fall and winter season, city of Santa Clarita officials are planning to increase the frequency of street sweeping beginning on Monday, Oct. 13.
Street sweeping will take place every week, the day after trash pickup, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to help keep streets and particularly gutters clean and free of falling leaves and debris.
Keeping The City Clean
Residents are asked to do their part to increase the effectiveness of the city wide street sweeping by removing vehicles from the street during scheduled street sweeping days.
Residents are also encouraged to keep the street clear of lawn and tree trimmings, trash, and debris, and remove portable basketball courts from the streets.
“As the colder months approach, the city strives to keep roads clean and free of leaves and debris by increasing the street sweeping schedule throughout the community,” said Mayor Laurene Weste.
Additionally, it is important that residents do not pile or stack leaves in the street or in yards.
All leafy debris should be placed in the green waste container supplied by the trash service provider.
This is to ensure that the street sweeping equipment does not become plugged, which would result in delays in the street sweeping service.
Street sweeping will return to the monthly schedule on February 2, 2014.
On January 17, 2012, the city of Santa Clarita began its street sweeping schedule for winter, spring and summer, with all city streets swept once per month.
Pursuant to the city’s street sweeping contract, the schedule is as follows: the City’s trail system and main arterial streets such as Soledad Canyon Road, McBean Parkway, Newhall Avenue, Golden Valley Road, and more are swept once per week.
All city medians and city-owned or leased parking lots with 25 or more parking spaces will continue to be swept once per month, all residential streets will be swept monthly.
