Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Chief Operating Officer To Retire In January

The chief operating officer and senior vice president of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, John Schleif, has announced his retirement after 11 years with the hospital.

With a career spanning 38 years as a hospital administrator, Schleif played a primary role in the growth of Henry Mayo by overseeing smooth and efficient operations of the hospital’s campus.

Through his leadership, he has contributed to making the hospital a better place where the Santa Clarita Valley community can receive patient-centered, world-class health care.

He will officially retire in January 2016.

“John has been an essential member of the hospital team during this critical time of growth,” said Roger Seaver, CEO and president of Henry Mayo. “He has a real love for Henry Mayo and has been onboard with the hospital’s mission since day one. His imprint on the broad array of accomplishments is indelible.”

Since 2004, Schleif has been directly involved in facility development, design and construction oversight, physician/medical director contracting, and compliance and oversight of most ancillary services at the hospital.

Major projects during his tenure include the main Connecting Corridor; Central Power Plant; Roberta G. Veloz Cardiac Catheterization Lab; Expanded Imaging Services; Wayne and Connie Spears Intensive Care Unit; Expanded Emergency Department; Operating Room Expansion and GI Lab Renovation; Advanced Primary Stroke Center Designation; Parking Structure and Helipad; Kim and Steven Ullman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Expanded Cardiovascular Services; Akbar Hasan Infusion Center; STEMI Heart Attack Receiving Center Designation; Henry Mayo Center and Simulation Lab; Cardiac Rehab Center; Underground Parking Structure and the new Patient Tower currently under construction.

“John’s commitment to Henry Mayo and the substantial role we have in service to the Santa Clarita Valley community has been unwavering,” Seaver said. “We all wish him the very best in his retirement.”
