Fans of swimming pools and pumpkin carving are about to watch these two seemingly disparate worlds collide later this month.

Santa Clarita Officials are inviting families to the ninth annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest and Spooky Family Fair on Oct. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway.

Teams of certified SCUBA divers will compete to create the best jack-o-lanterns. Spectators can cheer on the competition and enjoy crafts, games and trick-or-treating at the Spooky Family Fair.

Divers interested in participating in the pumpkin carving contest must register by calling 661-250-3764, as space is limited for carvers.
