Santa Clarita Named One Of Top Three Small Cities Of The Future

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThe City of Santa Clarita recently received recognition from fDi, an international Finance Magazine in their 2011/2012 American Cities of the Future Awards. The City was one of the top three communities recognized in the Small Cities of the Future category and earned a Top 10 ranking in the Small Cities, fDi Strategy category.

A subsidiary publication of the Financial Times Business Group, the corporate investment journal compiled their “City of the Future” shortlists based on a handful of criteria, including economic potential, quality of life, and business friendliness. The study ranked cities that demonstrated the best prospects for inward investment, economic development and business expansion.

“The City of Santa Clarita is proud to be recognized as an American City of the Future,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean. “Cultivating a healthy environment for business is a top priority for our City. This award is reflective of that as well as our outstanding partners in the business community.”

The ranking combines a North American ranking with Latin American ranking by compiling research on over 400 cities from fDi Benchmark and fDi Markets database tools.

The American Cities of the Future 2011/12 awards ceremony, hosted by fDi Intelligence, will be held in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011.

Certificates will be presented by Courtney Fingar, Editor of fDi Magazine.

Located just minutes from Burbank Airport, the City of Santa Clarita remains a prominent competitor in Southern California because of fewer fees and business-friendly public processes, award-winning schools, affordable housing, reliable transportation, and attractive lifestyle amenities.

In addition, businesses located within the Santa Clarita Enterprise Zone enjoy state income tax savings that can reduce or virtually eliminate their state income tax altogether.
