“Teens flock to social media platforms to stay connected with friends. However, they are also unknowingly being exposed to certain online dangers by doing so,” according to a news release.
SCV Sheriff Deputy Josh Dubin and Canyon High School Assistant Principal Sherry Richenbach will uncover risks for teens on social media with a “Teens & Social Media” workshop.
“There have been some issues this year with students posting inappropriate messages and photos online,” said Gail Pinsker, district spokeswoman.
“We want to help parents supervise their kids social media activity,” said Pinsker. “We also want to help students understand the bigger picture when it comes to social media, it is on the internet forever.”
“This interactive presentation will focus on what parents should know when it comes to technology, and how to keep the lines of communication open,” according to a news release.
Students should come and learn how to be smart, safe, and responsible online, according to a news release. Attendees will learn about the laws and how they affect your social media use.
Parents/Guardians should come and get information about some of the social media websites and apps your teens are using and what you can do to encourage online safety and responsibility, according to a news release.
