The study was compiled by WalletHub, and determined rankings based on starting salaries, available entry-level positions, job growth, affordable housing and percentage of population between 25-34 for each city.

WalletHub, a finance service that gives users credit scores and reports at no cost, conducted the study by weighing which cities were the best places for college graduates to begin their career in.

College of the Canyons offers a program to students who are close to graduating, through the Cooperative Work Experience Education (CWEE) program.

The CWEE department serves students by helping them find internship opportunities in their field which might lead to permanent employment.

Gina Bogna, dean of career and special services at College of the Canyons, said CWEE offers a variety of opportunities.

“The College of the Canyons internship program is offered through an academic course called CWEE.” said Bogna, “Students may secure an internship through My Jobs or procure an internship on their own and register for the CWEE course.”

The Career Center offers a job and internship portal, My Jobs, that is free for employers to post opportunities.

Students who are seeking internships are advised to post their resume on MY Jobs and to search the portal for opportunities that meet their goals.

Although internships does not guarantee employment, students are able to gain hands-on-experience in their respected field of study while finding out if the career is a good fit for them.

Many businesses in the Santa Clarita Valley continually offer internships opportunities for COC students on My Jobs portal, according to the CWEE Department.

”Some companies in the SCV that consistently provide internships and from time to time hire students are: Honda Performance Development, Int’l Tax Network Inc., Lundgren Management Corporation, ASC Process Systems, Blue Sky Films, The city of Santa Clarita, and of course, KHTS,” Bogna said.

The internship office has been working with SCV Economic Development Corporation to recruit businesses in the Santa Clarita Valley and to promote our internship program.

  1. How can our company – Enviro Safety Products – get signed up to list our Internships and Job Opportunities?

  2. Santa Clarita ranked last… who was the competition? Last in the United States? Last in California? Last in L.A. County? Last among ALL cities, regardless of size? What were the criteria?

    Useless story, sorry.

  3. The criteria are in the first paragraph. “Affordable housing” is an issue. Time for Granny Flats in Stevenson Ranch?

  4. If you simply read the article you would get your answer. Wow some people….
