Clem Cox was born in 1924 to Leona and Clement D. Cox, who in 1923 established a farm in what was then called Saugus. Clement Senior died in 1930, leaving Leona on her own to raise three boys and run the farm.Santa Clarita Resident Clem Cox Dies After 90 Years In SCV

Cox attended the one-room Sulphur Springs school, whose entire student body numbered 15 to 20, scattered across eight grades.

The Depression was on, and Leona Cox always made sure the school was stocked with plenty of water and firewood. Years later, in 1963, the district would name an elementary school for her.

Cox served three years in the Marines and then went to college to study agriculture.

After graduating, he taught agriculture in the San Fernando Valley while running the family chicken farm in Sand Canyon, supplying eggs to area restaurants.

Cox married Paula Palmer, and the couple eventually sold 103 of their 107 acres for the Robinson Ranch golf course and kept the rest for their home.

Funeral arrangements for Cox are still pending.

In 2004, Cox and his wife sat down with SCVTV to discuss their life in the “old days” of the Santa Clarita Valley. Click here to watch the video.

  1. Worked for him for 2 years. I have no issues with Mr.Cox. I forgive him. His wife is not a pleasant person. His bratty daughter and spoiled grandson probably already blew their inheritance. lol.
The man worked hard. I can’t say that about the women in his family.

I just read this article now in 2019 that he died in 2014. Decided to look him up.
I survived, and I am doing really well and will survive his ass-whole-entire family.
    RIP Mr.C
