With the holiday season around the corner, it might be time to think about some home improvements and some cheap, but meaningful DIY gifts, like shadow boxes.

Shadow boxes are a gift that gives new life to important memorabilia.

“One of the things that is most important to us is preservation and conservation,” said Fast Frame Valencia owners Randy and Rose Marie Burzynski. “Whatever you are framing, the frame is conserving it, protecting it.”

A shadow box is a case with a protective transparent front, used for displaying jewelry, coins, or other small objects.

The grouping of the objects and the depth effect created by their relative heights from the backing creates a dramatic visual result.

Shadow boxes have a strong tradition in many peoples military history. They are also frequently created purely for artistic and preservation needs.

“Accent the most important moments of family and friends with 3-D presentations that turn memories into heirlooms,” said officials from Fast Frame.

With shadow boxes, you can preserve sports memorabilia, children’s art, trophies, prizes, awards, or any important treasures that you want to keep safe, but also display.

Many people choose to create the shadow box from scratch, but for those less-than-handy folks, you should leave it to the professionals.

“When you buy pre-made materials, they won’t protect your pieces,” said Burzynski. “The materials won’t be acid free, and won’t have a UV protectant like our materials would have.”

They can be incredible pieces to add to your home decor and perfect gifts for almost any occasion, and vary in price depending on the materials you choose to use.

“We have simple or ornate options, and we can even create a piece that still allows you to access your pieces,” said Burzynski.

Located in the Santa Clarita Valley, Fast Frame offers the ability to frame virtually anything you would want to preserve or display. For more information, visit their website here.
