The public workshop will be at 6:30 p.m. at Old Orchard Elementary School, according to a news release.
“The city will hear feedback from the community and determine the level of interest in modifying the master plan to reflect current demographics, recreational use trends, and overall demand for facilities at this park,” said a news release.
In addition, the City’s consultant, Pacific Coast Land Design, will be conducting a survey of park users on Jan. 10 at Old Orchard Park between 8 a.m. and noon, and an upcoming weekday evening to gather input from park users, according to a news release. Beginning Jan. 15, this survey also will be available on the City’s webpage dedicated to public outreach, SantaClarita2020, found here.
Those interested in participating in the master plan process for Old Orchard Park are encouraged to attend the meeting on Jan. 14 and complete the online survey, according to a news release. You may also contact the project manager, Tom Reilly, at treilly@santa-clarita.com or (661) 286-4129.

Following news release from Ken Striplin, the city manager of the city of Santa Clarita.
As we begin a new calendar year, it is my pleasure to share with you some of the top programs and projects on our city’s plan for 2015.
We are developing a new strategic plan called Santa Clarita 2020. The plan will encompass a wide range of long-term projects and programs aimed at taking our city into the next decade and beyond.
One of the key aspects of the plan is community engagement. Each project and program will have a separate outreach effort with multiple opportunities for our community to provide their thoughts and ideas.
In Canyon Country, the City Council recently purchased 6.5 acres near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway to locate a new and permanent community center. We are interested in master-planning the land to include amenities the community wants and needs.
In Saugus, we are exploring building a new library and community room. While no location has been selected, your input as to where it ought to be and what it should include are important.
In Valencia, we are starting to meet with the community regarding rehabbing Old Orchard Park. We will be creating a master plan for the park that will be driven by community input and ideas. Some of the things we’ve heard already include more parking and upgraded irrigation.
What else would you like to see at Old Orchard Park?
In Newhall, we will soon be under construction with a beautification project along Newhall Avenue from the Metrolink rail line to the existing median at Sierra Highway. We will be installing landscaped medians to beautify this area, which is the southern gateway into our city.
