Parents struggle with their teenagers for a few reasons, most parents don’t realize that by the time their kids are teenagers, they should have shifted their parenting style to meet the adolescent where they are as they transition from childhood into teenage hood, Urbina said.

“When your kids are young, the autocratic parenting style works, because your kids need your firm guidance, when they get to a certain age, your kids need you to shift into that of a coaching style of parenting,” Urbina said.

The Teen Life Leadership Training is the wake up call that all teenagers need to feel alive again, to dream again, and to know themselves as mature, responsible and capable young adults whom their parents believe them to be, according to Urbina.

“When your kids start to hit their pre-teen years they are naturally trying to discover their own personal power and find their independence, and if you haven’t learned how to inspire, enroll, empower, or influence them, you will be in a power struggle with them because you will both be fighting to control the relationship; wise parent know this,” Urbina said.

The workshop offers direct and powerful exercises where teens get to examine their own viewpoints and identify the self-limitations that get in the way of their maximum potential, according to Urbina.

Once identified, the students get multiple opportunities to break through some of their fears, doubts, and other insecurities that inhibit self-expression, self-worth, and the self-confidence they need to be living extraordinary lives, Urbina said. Teens throughout the workshop are challenged and inspired to dig down deep and find that inner champion; the leader within.

“In order to learn how to be a coaching parent, the parent would need to make a conscious commitment and rigorous effort to self discovery and personal development,” Urbina said. “It takes years of practice to master the inner self to be able to create an extraordinary relationship with your kids so that you are the power of influence; where you can make the biggest impact in their lives.”

More importantly, the Teen Life Leadership Training is an awareness tool for teens to come to their own conclusions, that they may want more out of life, than what they have currently settled for, according to Urbina.

“When teens learn how to overcome their self-limitations and realize their full potential, they get feverishly excited to live responsibly, be independent, and thrive for success,” said Urbina.
