Santa Clarita Senior Center One Step Marathon Fundraiser

Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center officials are asking the community to participate in their One Step Marathon.

In order to continue serving the SCV seniors with meals, they need to raise enough money to replace their old kitchen equipment.

The SCV Senior Center delivers over 300 meals on a daily basis to homebound seniors and more than 200 meals a day in their congregate dining room.

“Some of the kitchen equipment is 15 to 20 years old,” said Rachelle Dardeau, executive director of the Senior Center. “This online campaign is targeted towards new kitchen equipment. It’s not very efficient. Some are broken and some have been fixed so many times they are beyond repair.”

All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the SCV Senior Center.

“Everyone and anyone can complete this marathon,” Dardeau said. “It is the easiest marathon in the world to complete. It takes five minutes to complete.

“All you need to do is get in front of your computer,” she added. “You can complete it in your pajamas with a cup of coffee.”

The One Step Marathon requires participants to take one step, which is committing to their online fundraiser.

To participate, visit the SCV Senior Center website and register online.

Participants can choose to create a personal fundraising page and create a team along with a personal goal or they can simply click on General Donation or Give to make a one time donation.

The online fundraising marathon will be open until the end of November.

The top five fundraisers will receive a prize and be personally notified after the marathon has been closed.

Participants can email this fundraiser to friends and family all over the country to get more people involved.

The SCV Center’s fundraiser goal is just under $30,000 to replace all of the older equipment.

The fundraiser began in October and has been extended to all of November.

Anyone who has trouble with the website can call the Senior Center at 661-259-9444, and will be walked through step by step.
